KNOWLEDGE THAT LANDS IN STRATEGY

Vienna & Austria, up to 50% co-funding, Sustainable Solutions OG

Given the complexity of the topic and the flood of theoretical knowledge, clear and economically viable next steps are often hard to identify. Alongside geopolitical and regulatory pressure, the field is also full of innovation potential - new business models, technologies and target groups.

Thinkubator set out to close the knowledge-action gap in sustainable business - to move from knowing to doing. Our consulting projects follow that principle: from understanding the problem to effective measures, from concepts on paper to future-proof business models.

Our aim in every project is to turn resource conservation into a business case. That looks different in every industry and calls for an innovative and creative approach. We work in a practical, results-oriented and honest way, always drawing on the latest findings from our research projects, which feed directly into our consulting work.

01REFERENCE PROJECT1/8

CONTAINERS AND MOBILE SPACE SYSTEMS

This Lower Austrian company specialises in containers and mobile space systems. With the goal of leveraging sustainability potential while building a new production hall, the focus was on developing circular processes and a modular roof system. A central element was optimising material flows and systematically recording condition data for efficient container lifecycle management.

Through targeted analysis of operational processes and the involvement of regional recycling partners, measures were created to use resources more efficiently, minimise transport distances and sustainably reduce the ecological footprint of production.

02REFERENCE PROJECT2/8

EMISSIONS MEASUREMENT FOR PROMOTION SERVICES

The company responded proactively to growing pressure from its B2B customers regarding sustainability and carbon footprint. The project aimed to develop a measurable, sustainable alternative to conventional promotion services. A comprehensive sustainability strategy was designed and a dedicated emissions measurement tool built. It was integrated into a relevant business unit so that sustainable practices became part of day-to-day operations.

This approach allowed the company not only to meet its business partners' current expectations but also to establish a long-term, environmentally responsible corporate culture.

03REFERENCE PROJECT3/8

PANELS AND WALL CLADDING FROM WASTE STREAMS

This Czech company turns waste streams into circular panel and wall cladding elements. The project focused on optimising material cycles, hedging against regulatory risks and strategic positioning in the context of the EU taxonomy and circular business models.

After a detailed value chain analysis, concepts for a structured take-back scheme enabling cascading reuse were developed. In preparation for upcoming EU requirements, guidelines for product passport qualifications and environmental declarations as well as strategies to avoid microplastic release along the supply chain were embedded.

04REFERENCE PROJECT4/8

GREEN AI STRATEGY FOR SOFTWARE

This Austrian software company planned to integrate energy-intensive large language models (LLMs) into its translation infrastructure. The project aimed to optimise the ecological footprint of these digital systems early on as part of a Green AI strategy, minimising the energy and resource consumption of the server architecture before product rollout.

A comprehensive system boundary and usage scenario analysis systematically evaluated and compared implementation paths - from cloud-based server structures to local on-device processing. An internal assessment tool and Green AI guidelines for resource-efficient software design were embedded in the company's processes to prevent energy-intensive decisions during product development.

05REFERENCE PROJECT5/8

DOUBLE MATERIALITY ASSESSMENT

This Viennese company was actively preparing for certifications and funding applications. The project's main goal was to create a comprehensive overview of the relevant ESG topics and factors with a particularly significant impact on society and the environment. As a result, a workshop design focused on the double materiality assessment (CSRD: IO/OI) and phineo impact logics was developed and delivered.

This approach prepared the company for external communication requirements, enabling it to communicate its social and environmental responsibility transparently and effectively.

06REFERENCE PROJECT6/8

OUTDOOR FASHION FOR RENT

This Austrian company specialises in selling and renting out circular outdoor fashion, in particular sportswear. With the goal of increasing awareness and sales of the rental offer, the focus was on designing a B2B offer and opening up a B2B sales channel. A central element was identifying new cooperation partners in the events and tourism sector.

Through targeted collaboration with relevant players, synergies were created to position the sustainable outdoor fashion more strongly in the market and to expand rental sales.

07REFERENCE PROJECT7/8

DURABLE FASHION AND REPAIR

This Viennese textile company, known for high-quality, durable fashion and repair services, wanted to advance its circular economy practices. The project aimed to make use of fabric offcuts, identify and assess recycled and bio-based material alternatives and reduce the return rate.

Following a status-quo analysis, a buyer for the offcuts was found and the specific environmental impacts of different fibres were analysed. Operational measures were also developed to reduce the return rate in the online shop.

08REFERENCE PROJECT8/8

OFFICE AND WORKPLACE FURNITURE

This international company specialises in manufacturing office and workplace furniture. The collaboration focused on guidance in circular economy topics and on developing sustainable business model strategies.

In tailored mentoring and coaching sessions, the financial and operational levers of circular business models - for example a rental model - were analysed and calculated. Alongside a feasibility study for usage-based sales models, methods for assessing the circularity of product design and strategies for integrating circular approaches into core operations were developed.
