CIRKUS - CIRCULAR PLASTICS GO TO SCHOOL
FFG Talente-Regional 2022, 2023–2025
“CirKuS - Circular Kunststoffe machen Schule” was made possible under the Talente-Regional 2022 programme of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). Together with TU Wien and further partners, Thinkubator brought research on circular economy and plastics straight into classrooms.
From 2023 to 2025, 13 classes from seven Viennese schools worked on circular economy challenges and solutions - with the goal of developing and implementing their own creative ideas.

Thinkubator contributed expertise on plastics, waste prevention and circular economy, supported project organisation and guided pupils through mentoring and hackathons in developing their solutions.

From problem analysis to existing solutions to their own idea.

Problem analysis - plastics under the microscope
What are plastics and how do they affect the environment and society? Pupils explored the ecological and social challenges of dealing with plastics.

Getting to know solutions
Through excursions and workshops, classes explored existing recycling and upcycling solutions.

Developing their own solutions
In hackathons and with mentoring, pupils developed their own ideas - from clean-up campaigns and interactive lectures to workshops and peer-to-peer events.
